Annotated Links: http://linkstore.ru/al — This site allows you to add multiple links together (which will open multiple pages or tabs in the recipient's web browser) and then add a yellow sticky note to each page, thus annotating the websites. You can use this service to annotate one link or multiple links. Alexa rank: 303,472 on March 10th.
Bit.ly: http://www.bit.ly — Allows you to shrink a URL for Twitter or anywhere else and then track the number of clicks. Alexa rank: 5,321 on March 10th; 1,530 on May 24th.
BudUrl: http://www.budurl.com — Motto: Shrink it. Spread it. Watch it grow. Allows users to shorten URLs for Twitter or any other purpose and then TRACK how many people click on your link. A free account allows you to create 250 shortened URLs and track up to 25 clicks. Upgrade users cost $4 to $49 per month. Alexa rank: 33,924 in mid-February, 31,031 on March 10th.
cli.gs: http://www.cli.gs — A URL shortening service with tracking. Alexa rank: 12,843 on May 24th.
eca.sh: http://www.eca.sh — A URL shortening service that features ads where you can make money every time you tweet a shortened URL (if someone clicks on the ad). Alexa rank: 63,408 on August 12th.
Is.gd: http://www.is.gd — Shortens URLs shorter than any other service. Over 5 million URLs have been shortened thus far. Is.gd redirect 50 million visitors each month. Alexa rank: 19,371 on March 10th.
Long URL: http://www.longurl.org — Allows you to see the expanded link of a shortened URL so you can see where the link points to. Also available as a Firefox add-in. Alexa rank: 513,021 on April 19th; 291,317 on May 24th.
Ol.am: http://www.ol.am — A URL shortener that features an advertisement before taking people to the redirect URL. If you use this service to short a URL, you earn money every time someone clicks on your shortened link. Alexa rank: 1,278,240 on March 13th; 6,055,760 on May 24th. Note: The advertising service is currently disabled until they build more traffic.
Ow.ly: http://www.ow.ly — A URL shortening service that allows tracking via HootSuite.com. Alexa rank: 4,400 on May 24th.
SnipURL: http://www.snipurl.com — A URL shortening service that has snipped 37,730,000 URLs which have been clicked 48 billion times. Alexa rank: 11,269 on March 10th; 13,264 on May 24th.
Snurl: http://www.snurl.com — An affiliated URL shortening service with a shorter URL. Alexa rank: 41,116 on May 24th.
Snipr: http://www.snipr.com — An affiliated URL shortening service with a shorter URL. Alexa rank: 96,684 on May 24th.
Sn.im: http://www.sn.im — An affiliated URL shortening service with an even shorter URL. Alexa rank: 120,798 on May 24th.
Song.ly: http://www.song.ly — A URL shortening service for music links. Alexa rank: 356,512 on March 10th; 181,352 on August 10th.
Tiny Bin: http://www.tinybin.com — This site allows you to convert 5,000+ character blog posts and/or images/video content into tiny URLs and then share the content on many social platforms. In addition, you can restrict who sees the content if you want. Alexa rank: 832,939 on March 7th, 454.704 on April 5th; 1,798,313 on August 10th.
Tiny Paste: http://www.tinypaste.com — Type or paste in any amount of formatted text and save it here. This service gives you a shortened URL you can share on Twitter, Facebook, Plurk, your website, blog, etc. Also comes as a Firefox extension. Alexa rank: 29,639 on April 5th; 15,875 on August 10th.
Tiny Song: http://www.tinysong.com — Allows you to share music links with your friends. Alexa rank: 402,686 on March 10th; 281,599 on August 10th.
TinyURL: http://www.tinyurl.com — One of the first URL shortening services. Now, far from tiny. Alexa rank: 555 on March 10th.
Tra.kz: http://www.tra.kz — URL shortener for all things music. It's how fans and members of the Twitter community share music and cool music content. Alexa rank: 891,736 on March 10th; 476,096 on May 24th.
Tweet Burner: http://www.tweetburner.com — Allows user to create short URLs for tweeting and then to track the open rates (or follows) of those links. Has generated more than 5.3 million twurls that have been clicked more than 34 million times. For example, click on this twurl: http://twurl.nl/ogt2hq. TweetBurner.com Alexa rank: 92,635 in early February; 121,364 on March 10th; 40,713 on May 24th. Twurl.nl Alexa rank: 57,105 on May 24th.
TwitClicks: http://www.twitclicks.com — Shortens URLs, can send them to Twitter, and tracks the clickthroughs. Alexa rank: 66,322 on May 24th.
Twit Lik: http://www.twitlik.com — Shortens URLs for use in Twitter. Alexa rank: no data on March 15th. Too new.
Twit Power: http://www.twitpwr.com — Shortens URLs for use in Twitter, but also does so much more. Alexa rank: 264,274 in early February, 144,692 on March 10th; 17,355 on May 24th.
- You can create custom short URLs to help you brand. Check out, for example, http://twitpwr.com/bookmarket46. Bookmarket is my brand. Also check out: http://TwitPWR.com/twittertools (not a brand but a good link to this page).
- Allows you to track how many clicks are generated from posting a link in your tweet.
- You can create backlinks for the links you create.
- Ranks the top users of the service. The Power Rankings are based on the unique traffic you generate, how many Twitter users you refer to their service, and how much traffic they generate.
- The service automatically creates a personal user page for you that features your tweets and your TwitPwr links (with lots of details on the websites you link to). Check out my personal page at:
