Allows you to enter any Twitter user name and see their Twitter stream as they
do. Unfortunately, wasn't working when I tried to preview it.
Destroy Twitter:
http://www.destroytoday.com/projects/destroytwitter — An Adobe AIR
application that provides a series of canvases that constantly update to keep
tweets current. Messages and tweets can be replied to with the original visible
for quick and easy reference. A search function is also available to track
anything that's being talked about. Alexa rank: 119,292 on March 9th.
Easy Tweets:
http://www.easytweets.com — Motto: Easy
Twitter marketing. They offer three monthly plans: Plus for $24 per month, Pro
for $49 per month, and Max for $99 per month. The Plus plan allows for 15
Twitter accounts, 15 RSS feeds, tweet scheduling, email alerts, daily keyword
summaries, and more. Alexa rank: 347,020.
Their free service allows for 3 accounts, but you must post
separately to each account. You can schedule messages to post in the future.
Filttr:
http://www.filttr.com — Allows you to see only the tweets you want to see
via filters you set for groups of people, custom keywords, source filtering,
etc. Does not work with Internet Explorer. Alexa rank: 468,975 in February;
382,800 on August 23, 2009.
Google Twitter Gadget:
http://desktop.google.com/plugins/i/twitter. html?hl=en — Allows you to read
and update Twitters right on your desktop.
Hashtags.org:
http://www.hashtags.org — A directory of
hashtags used on Twitter, along with a search engine for finding hashtagged
tweets. Alexa rank: 31,085 on April 13th.
HootSuite:
http://www.hootsuite.com — Allows you to
manage multiple Twitter profiles, pre-schedule tweets, and measure your success.
Among other things, you can set up multiple contributors to one Twitter account.
Therefore this service enables group-written blogs. Alexa rank: 3,085,769 on
February 14; 655,140 on March 6.
Pocket Tweets:
http://www.pockettweets.com — A
web-based Twitter client for the iPhone. Alexa rank: 395,292.
Social Too:
http://www.socialtoo.com — Allows you to
auto follow, auto filter, create surveys, and find out how your network has
changed overnight. Also allows social surveys and short profile URLs for
Facebook. Alexa rank: 72,500.
Spaz:
http://www.funkatron.com/spaz — An
Adobe Air desktop application that allows you to use all the Twitter functions
and more from your desktop. Funkatron Alexa rank: 186,083.
Splitweet:
http://www.splitweet.com — Allows you to
track and manage multiple accounts on Twitter. Allows free accounts. Supports
about ten languages. Alexa rank: 92,785.
Tweet Backup:
http://www.tweetbackup.com — Allows you
to back up your tweets. Alexa rank: 347,164 on April 15th.
Tweet Bots:
http://www.tweetbots.com — Allows you to
auto-follow, retweet, track, feed tweet, and more. Alexa rank: 459,134 on March
19th.
Tweet Deck:
http://www.tweetdeck.com — An Adobe Air
desktop application that allows users to split their main feed (all tweets) into
topic or group specific columns allowing a broader overview of tweets. The
default columns can contain All Tweets from your timeline, @replies directed to
you, and direct messages. I know many heavy Twitter users who rely on this application to
Twitter effectively. Alexa rank: 203,403.
Tweet Glide:
http://www.tweetglide.com — Could be the
killer app. A TweetDeck look-alike with added features plus the opportunity to
advertise and earn income using the service. Alexa rank: 265,710 on August 12th.
Tweet Grid:
http://www.tweetgrid.com — A web version
of Tweet Deck. Allows you to monitor up to nine Twitter searches (on various
subjects) in real time. Alexa rank: 100,884 on March 8th.
Social Oomph:
http://www.socialoomph.com — Allows you
to post tweets to be sent later as well as to send automatic messages every time
someone new follows you? Users can set up Tweets to happen later on the day,
week, or month.
Also allows you to set up Twitter
alerts for any keywords, people, companies, etc. that you want to track. Alerts
are sent to you via email. Also allows you to auto follow those who follow you
and send them a welcome message. Formerly known as TweetLater.com. Alexa rank:
206,334 on March 24th, 11,819 on April 9th, 3,273 on August 28th (as
TweetLater.com).
Tweet Manager: http://tweetmanager.com — Makes your life
on Twitter easier by providing the following tools: auto follow, auto reply,
blog feed, mass message, auto post, and dual manage. Note: This service is closed
right now to new people while it tests its beta service. Still in beta three
months later. Alexa rank: 139,443 in mid-February; 109,506 on May 17th.
TweetSpinner:
http://www.tweetspinner.com — Allows
you to schedule smart tweets (repeating tweets that change according to your
specs), rotate your profiles and designs regularly, and maintain your friends
and followers very easily. Looks like a great new service. Could be very
powerful. Be cautious about using their keyword following feature (still needs
work). Alexa rank: 161,182 on May 17th.
Tweet Suite:
http://danzarrella.com/beyond-tweetbacks-introducing-tweetsuite.html — A
WordPress plug-in with lots of tools to allow automatic tweeting of new blog
posts, tweet widgets, and more.
Tweet Take:
http://www.tweetake.com — Allows you to
back up your tweets. Alexa rank: 534,790 on February 2nd, 357,032 on February
13th; 297,937 on April 15th.
Tweet Tree —
http://www.tweetree.com — Puts your
Twitter stream into a tree so you can view related posts. Also pulls in external
content from TwitPic photos, YouTube videos, Flickr photos, and more so you can
view them at the same time as the original posts. Alexa rank: 1,965,389 on
February 2nd, 128,794 on February 12th.
Tweetvisor:
http://www.tweetvisor.com — A website
Twitter interface that allows you to manage multiple Twitter accounts, returns
real-time updates on favorite topics/news/tweets, and supports groups, tagging
friends, and inline video replies. Alexa rank: 356,383.
Tweleted:
http://www.tweleted.com — Allows you to
recover a tweet that you accidentally delete. Alexa rank: 2,698,694 on March 28;
758,935 on April 12th.
Twitter Fone:
http://www.twitterfone.com — Allows
users to send tweets via voice phone calls. Note: Test first to be sure your
voice tweets come out correctly. Alexa rank: 287,637.
Twitter Fox:
http://www.twitterfox.net — A Firefox
browser extension that notifies and allows you to tweet from your browser status
bar. Alexa rank: almost 4 million on February 2nd, 130,255 on February 12th.
Twitter Line:
http://www.greenspace.info/twitter/line/en.html — A Mozilla Firefox add-on
that displays your Twitter time line on the Firefox toolbar.
Twitter Mail:
http://www.twittermail.com — Provides
you with an email address such as
abcdef1234@twittermail.com so you can email in your tweets. When you send an
email to your Twittermail address, it gets posted to your Twitter account. Alexa rank: 129,872.
Twitterriffic:
http://www.iconfactory.com/software/twitterrific — A Mac application for
twittering from your Mac computer. Of course, there's also a Twitterriffic
iPhone app. Icon Factory Alexa rank: 64,374.
TwitZap:
http://www.twitzap.com — Allows you to slice Twitter into channels that
matter to you. Channels track anything you want: your name, a subject of
interest to you, a current news story, etc. Once you set up your channels, they update in real time. Alexa
rank: no data on April 15th; 124,576 on May 10th.
Twuffer: http://www.twuffer.com
— A Twitter buffer. Allows you to write a list of future tweets and schedule
their release. Alexa rank: 118,722 in early February, 123,749 on March 10th.
Social Networking Tools

Alert Thingy:
http://www.alertthingy.com — Bring the
latest updates from your favorite social networks direct to your desktop. Plus
you can send tweets, Facebook status updates, upload photos to Flickr, post to

Blogo:
http://www.drinkbrainjuice.com/blogo — This $25 Mac software allows users to
easily publish text, images, videos, slideshows and more. With a simple,
intuitive interface and support for Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad, Typo, Drupal,
and Expression Engine. Also spread the word with Twitter, Ping.fm and other
supported services. Free 21-day trial. DBJ Alexa rank: 222,544.
HelloTxt:
http://www.hellotxt.com — Allows you to
post status reports (tweets) to multiple social networks and microblogging
websites with one click. Alexa rank: 78,448.
Letter Me Later:
http://www.lettermelater.com — Allows
you to send an email to anyone from your email address at a later time. So you
can schedule when your email will be sent (for example, you can write a Ping.fm
post via email and schedule it for any time you want). You can also schedule
text messages sent to your cellphone. This site has sent over 2 million emails
in less than two years. Alexa rank: 303,008.
OnePoke: http://www.onepoke.com — Lets you manage all of your social networking,
dating profiles, blogs and emails from one single account.
People Browsr:
http://www.peoplebrowsr.com — Perhaps
a better TweetDeck online that allows you to track your activity in about 10
social media sites from Twitter to Digg to YouTube to Facebook, etc. Alexa rank: 91,153 on March 6th.
Ping.fm:
http://www.ping.fm — Allows you to post to many different social networks
with only one post. You can also post to Ping.fm via email. Alexa rank: 85,037 on March 6th.
Ping Vine:
http://www.pingvine.com — A free service
that takes an Atom or RSS feed from your blog, lifestream or favorite website
and posts it to Twitter, Ping.fm and/or Identi.ca. Hence, you can automatically post
your blog posts to Twitter via RSS feed. Alexa rank: 9,552,578 on February 2nd, 363,646 on February 12th.
Post Later:
http://www.postlater.com — This $19.95
per month subscription service allows you to schedule blog posts and status
updates to be posted later. You can submit posts to WordPress blogs, Blogger,
Tumblr, Drupal, Joomla, Twitter, FriendFeed, Ping.fm, Laconi.ca, and more. Alexa
rank: 95,557 on March 9th.
Sociagami:
http://www.sociagami.com — This Windows
software application allows you to manage your Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter
accounts from one page. Use Sociagami to get your latest messages, comments,
wall posts, and friend requests. Also search for friends and photos through all
three networks. They are working on a new version and are not currently allowing downloads.
Alexa rank: 1,608,722 on February 6th, 1,301,088 on March 6th.
Squidoo: http://www.squidoo.com — When you are creating or editing Squidoo lenses,
you can add a Twitter follow module to any lense. Just add a title and the name
of your Twitter account, and your tweets will be automatically updated to your
lense. This is a great way to publicize your Twitter account. Alexa rank: 510.
Twhirl:
http://www.twhirl.org — Twhirl is a social software desktop client that
connects to multiple Twitter, laconi.ca, Friendfeed, and Seesmic accounts. Also
allows you to cross-post your Twitter posts to Pounce and Jaiku, post images to
TwitPic, and search tweets. Alexa rank: 266,491.
