First Time Authors Only Book Club
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's an email we received this week from Cheryl Morgan:
We have started a group on Facebook, First Time Authors Only Book
Club, which will give new authors a place to promote their books and
have them read and reviewed. The more members we get, the more
books we'll be able to offer each month. For instance, if we have 500
members, well it would be difficult to hold one discussion with 500
people, so we would probably offer several books and allow members
to decide which book they would prefer to read. I'd love to get the
membership to the point where we could feature 10 or more books
each month. As a first time author myself, I'm hoping this will be an
inexpensive way for new authors to get their books into the hands of
people across the nation (or even world). We are taking every genre
of book and author, so spread the word and get your new authors to
join. Just do a search on Facebook for First Time Authors Only Book
Club and click on the join this group button and you're all set.
John's comments: I'd be curious to see how this works out for authors
and for readers. If you're on Facebook, you might want to check it out.
The following is an email I received from Mara Feeney:
Having just produced a book trailer myself, I was curious to look at
Jeffrey’s [mentioned last issue]. I found it confusing and a bit annoying.
Too much talking, fancy graphic stuff moving too fast, then all that
content about face value and internet (along with collapsing housing
market mention) made me wonder if he sold the tickets? But no, there
he is in the stands, so what is the book about???
I’d be curious to know what you (and others) think of my trailer. Here's
Russell Brooks had the audio of his action thriller Pandora's Succession
recorded by an actor and scored with music just like they do for the
movies. It was produced by GumboWriters.com. Check it out at:
