publish Kindle ebooks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Publishing Kindle ebooks is easier than you might think (if you haven't done it yet). Just go to http://dtp.amazon.com and start publishing. Click on the Kindle Publishing Guide link under Getting Started to get going.
Below are four quotation books I've published so far as Kindle ebooks. All are priced at $2.99. Each book contains more than 1,000 great quotations, many not found in any other book of quotations.
The Art of Living: Quotations from Artists, Photographers, Architects, Designers, Cartoonists, Poets, Writers, Novelists, and Critics on Art and Life: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00413PXZE
The Business of Life: Business people and others on life, business, careers, the workplace, investments, economics, jobs, money, and more: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00413PYVW
How to Act: Advice on How to Live and Act from Actors, Models, Comedians, Directors, Producers, Playwrights, and Screenwriters: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00413PXUE
The Big Bad Book of Blonde Jokes: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00413PY2Q
Using Amazon's upload engine for transferring Word documents into Kindle editions is really easy to do. Just sign up and fill out the form. But note: Amazon's transformation engine doesn't always create a perfect ebook. While the first three books look pretty good as ebooks, the blonde joke book has a few glitches. I'll have to upload a new file sometime soon to correct the minor defects.
Examiner.com is paying authors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Examiner.com pays authors to write local columns on many different subjects. As I've noted before, having a regular column on a much-visited website can be a great way to build a platform. Examiner.com has 20 million unique visitors every month. Note: This website also has a roster of 400 book reviewers. Check out the site at http://www.examiner.com
If you'd like to apply to be one of their paid columnists, click here: http://www.examiner.com/Become_an_Examiner.html?cid=nf_target-general
Note: They have writers covering entertainment, sports, recreation, family, home, lifestyle, health, beauty, and news as well as regional topics.

IndieGoGo.com fundraising site
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Similar to Kickstarter.com, which I discussed several issues ago, IndieGoGo is a website that allows you to raise funds for various projects. The site encourages you to post requests to raise money by pre-selling your work, offering unique perks, engaging strangers, gauging interests, and more. Check this site out at: http://www.indiegogo.com
Another peer-to-peer lending site like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo is Prosper: http://www.prosper.com
Through Prosper.com, Priscilla Edwards borrowed $10,000 at 13.9% interest from 141 people so she could finish publishing her children's book, Tiny Tug: Adventures on San Francisco Bay (under the pseudonym of Una King).
Blogger.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've just created two new blogging websites using Blogger.com. This service from Google now features even easier set up for websites. And some beautiful templates that make it easy to look good. If you need a quick and simple website, you might want to check out the new Blogger.com at http://www.blogger.com
Before everyone sends me an email about the wonders of WordPress, I am well aware of the advantages of WordPress for creating more complex websites with many added features, but WordPress is more complicated to set up. Which option you choose depends on what you need and how much you want to learn. Blogger is the easier option for a simple website.
Here are the two new blog websites I've set up.
BookMarket.com RSS Feed: http://rss.bookmarket.com - I'm using this blog to provide daily updates on pages that I add or change at BookMarket.com. This is a simple way to set up an RSS feed for website changes.
Book Marketing Expert TV: http://www.bookmarketingexpert.tv - I'll be using this website to showcase my new series of Book Marketing Minute videos.
Note: I've also created a new domain name for the Book Marketing Network. You can find the network of almost 6,000 book authors at http://www.thebookmarketingnetwork.com.
