To help make the sale of a book project in the
works, Curtis Brown agent Elizabeth Sheinkman encouraged the author to put a
5-minute video up on YouTube. Robert Isaacson, author of The Horse Boy, a
proposed book telling about his upcoming trip to Mongolia with his autistic son,
was planning on making a video of the trip (with help from some professionals).
The YouTube video featured below, along with a good proposal, allowed Sheinkman
to sell Isaacson's book for a 7-figure advance in a six-way auction. Judy Clain
of Little, Brown bought the book.
Do you have a short video that could enhance your
book proposal or news release? If so, get it up on YouTube, MySpace, and other
websites where agents, editors, movie producers, and others can view it.
